It's laughable that you think anyone taking 1/2 the amount of EPA in STRENGTH than V provides could end up with a higher EPA level - it's physically impossible unless that patient is also eating oily fish 2-3 times per week - and big portions of it -sts66

In a highly controlled setting, giving a modest number of subjects 4 g/d Vascepa vs 4 g/d Epanova, concurrent with a high fat meal for 12 weeks will of course result in higher EPA levels in the Vascepa treated subjects. However, in a less controlled setting with a median follow up of 5 years and thousands of subjects, we wouldn’t be surprised to observe an entirely different outcome. The FFA form is better absorbed than the ethyl ester form, and far better absorbed when taken hours after a meal (i.e. at bedtime) or taken with a low fat meal. Studies on polypharmacy have shown the majority of patients take all their meds in one shot, and most often before going to sleep at night. In that setting yes, Epanova 4 g/d could well result in higher EPA levels than 4 g/d Vascepa.
