The RC does not have an active AIS transceiver so its current location is not available directly

It appears that activity at the TAU site has been completed a few days ago and the RC has moved on

It is listed in a rig database service as "drilling" in Trinidad but my guess is that it just refers to where the current drilling contract is operating and that it will be in operation there soon

The jackup rig market is getting much stronger as more rigs are being put under contract

Currently available rigs - I show 2 (suitable high-spec) jackups warm-stacked and 1 cold-stacked in the GOM, another warm-stacked in Colombia

A few suitable jackups are nearing the end of their contract period in the Trinidad, GOM, and Central America areas and there are several cold-stacked in other areas overseas

It is likely that there are some rigs currently being unstacked due to market conditions but info on that is extremely difficult to find

As for the mix of words related to the conclusion of TAU - The terminology for "Plug and Abandon" used by BOEM means that the bore has been cemented closed and sealed. The term "permanently abandoned" refers to the type of plug and does not mean that further drilling in that bore is precluded.

The filings posted show Canoe, Tau*200, Tau*201, and Tau*202 have been sealed. The filing for Tau*203, the last sidetrack bore, has not shown up in the filings yet but has obviously been done prior to the jackup moving away.

GSPE stated that the P&A method used will allow for re-entry into the wells at Canoe and Tau for further work if and when it is decided to proceed

As for the "we are about to complete TAU" phrase, I think the bore had been cemented and the rig was probably still on-hire and being demobilized at the time the statement was made
