This is not new news. We already know this. Prescribing this off label will continue to be a challenge until label expansion.

Why scripts are not exploding. My insurance denied payment. I went to my cardiologists and asked for Vascepa. He made a face and said, "Why?" I said, "because I was in the study group and would benefit from the medicine." He is aware of the study and said he will prescribe Vascepa for his patients who have high trigs. (Whatever that is.) He added that he has had all but one of his prescriptions for Vascepa denied by the insurance company.

My prescription was denied. My insurance wants a letter of explanation.
