Funny, Christian Smith is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Notre Dame, and is the author of Atheist Overreach: What Atheism Can't Deliver. With a name like that he obviously has his cross to bear. ;-) The age old question of is man basically good or evil and predestination vs predetermination. Alas the poor philosopher pondering these questions while standing in the unemployment line. Cogito, ergo sum, Decartes somehow got God out of that thought. Nietzsche called God's bluff. And one of my favorites Sartre. Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does. Everything has been figured out, except how to live. I personally would like to think man is inherently good/moral but as we know with the yellow jacket occasionally God screws up. Thanks for the link. A refreshing change of pace from the drudgery of the daily Trump noise.
