Maybe I sounded too combative.

My model for this company is a simple cashflow discount model, and so the cost of equity is a pretty important assumption.

If you honestly think that in your opinion the appropriate discount rate is 18%, then for your purposes, that's the right answer. Of course my kneejerk reaction was that you just backed into a basis that said the current price is the "right" price.

I suspect the "market" is using a lower cost of equity (more like my suggestion) and lower future cash flow assumptions.

But it comes to the same thing, as you say -- a smart long here is optimistic about likely future cash flows vs market consensus right now.
