I might be wrong, but this introduces a significant risk to the electronic payment system. The dollar is stable and the value is easily understood. Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies aren't stable and are subject to wide fluctuations in value. If this form of payment is adopted by even a small portion of consumers it adds another unknown layer of risk to the economy.
