It's too bad I didn't take screen shots for that post instead of links to StockCharts. CGNX was a pretty wild ride way back then. To get an idea of its volatility you could use PerfCharts:

Set the X-axis to 752 days and slide it across so that the start date is January 2nd, 2001. That period would approximate what we were looking at at that time. CGNX was and might still be a pretty good stock to AIM. A dear friend told me about CGNX back in the '90s and I bought and AIM'd it for probably 10 to 15 years, I'd guess.

Looking back at the AIM User Web pages, I did find a simulated history starting at around the same time and continuing thru 2007. It includes the trade history right out of Newport that I did at the time.
