Monday 3/1/19 Top 20
Per my usual, grades 1 to 5 stars and comments made before hearing judges comments. This format is confusing, is there any cuts from tonight's show? Do we now go down to top 14 next Sunday? Either way, here are my comments from last night.
Madison Vandenberg: A good performance - 3 1/2 stars.
Shawn Robinson: Another just good performance - 3 1/2 stars.
Laine Hardy: Really liked the this performance, did not care for the speeding up of the song, but wow - 4 stars.
Uche: Still Uche The Clown to me, don't care for his performances, but this was hiss best singing thus far - 3 1/2 stars
Eddie Island: You can tell this guy listened to the judges and backed up off of the too much on the style crap, gone were the yellow glasses and he just sang; this was his best yet - 4 1/2 stars.
Evelyn Cormier: I wish this girl would quit with the 'style' crap as well, she sounds like she has new braces, I can hear the wind wrapping around her teeth, just sing, she's got voice 3 1/2 stars.
Alyssa Raghu: A strong performance 3 1/2 stars.
Ryan Hammond: He was great 4 1/2 stars
Raquel Trinidad: She's talented, but nothing special, again, too much 'style,' I didn't like it 3 stars.
Logan Johnson: I'm a bit tired of his mousey stuff, I think he has a lot more that he's holding back, but a damn good performance nonetheless - 4 stars.
Dimitirus Graham: This guy is just 'too much' and I am tired of him already, damn shame because he can sing, but still - 4 stars.
Riley Thompson: needs a little age and experience, she is a good singer - 3 1/2 stars.
Walker Burroughs: Rock solid performance, really liked this - 4 1/2 stars.
Bumbly: This was her best, but I still do not like her - 3 stars.
Ashley Hess: a solid effort - 4 stars.
Alejandro Aranda: OK, this is his best so far - 4 stars.
Kate Barnette: Starting to dig her, but she's in a group of serious talent - 3 1/2 stars.
Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon: This is a truly gifted singer - 4 1/2 stars.
Laci Kaye Booth: I love this girl, a unique talent not seen a lot, she's got a great scratchy but controlled voice, this was a great performance of this song - 4 1/2 stars.
Wade Cota: a serious talent and tonight he really belted one out; this guy too is a unique talent that only comes around once in a while, great performance - 5 stars.
My Notes:
While I am growing tired of the show, especially under the helm of ABC, we have a great bunch of talent on the show this season. It is really going to get tight as we get down to the top 10, it will be interesting to see who falls to the way-and who steps up. I am sure we have a few surprises coming because with the line-up the show has this season in the talent pool, the artists are going to have to work hard to get out-front and to stay out up-front.
Standouts Tonight Were: Eddie Island, Jeremiah, Laci Kaye Booth, Lloyd Harmon, Ryan Hammond, Wade Cota, Walker Burroughs.
If We Are Going Down To Top 14, I would send home: Bumbly, Dimitirus, Kate, Raquel, Riley, Shawn, Uche,
