Jon Krakauer is one of my favorite authors.

Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman was a brilliant biography of Pat Tillman and the Army’s disgusting handling of his tragic death. Before I read the book, I had thought that Pat was just a knucklehead machoman, but I left believing that he was a true intellectual with heroic integrity.

Of course, Into Thin Air was an awesome account of a horrible Mt. Everest debacle. I had to get ER Rx for frostbite when I finished that book.

Under the Banner of Heaven traces the absolutely brutal migration of the disciples of Joseph Smith to Utah and the rise of Mormon fundamentalism.

In regards to mountaineering and Mormonism, there is a common thread: LONG UNDERWEAR!!!
