If one can regard the still frame of this video at 1:46 minutes, it becomes easier to understand that Liquidmetal was "coated" onto the composite layered ski just prior to painting.

It was the coating that allowed the ski to flex but snap back more responsively. The application was more or less a powdered coating process. Had absolutely nothing to do with casting or BMG's.

The same coating was used on tennis rackets.

Only the golf club faces and the fish hooks by Mark Anderson, were die cast BMG's.

All other sports applications were coatings and were coated by the manufacturer.

LQMT had very little to do with the processing other than supply the vitreloy based formulae to the sports equipment companies (Head, Rawlings, K4, etc.

Liquidmetal made no money on the coatings applications sports businesses. Instead they were paid in kind for the advertising.

These early days were FREEBIES by KANG. The only revenues that were significant came from the OILFIELD services applications, and mainly, coating the drill bit and joints to minimize the abrasion against the oilwell casing.
