I could be wrong...but I remember reading that, because MJ is illegal at the Federal level, US cannabis companies cannot list on the NYSE or Nasdaq but only the OTC. I went looking and there are only a handful of cannabis companies on either of the two prominant exchanges and those companies that deal directly with the flower are Canadian based...and do not sell product in the US. I also am pretty sure that if one of those listed companies starts selling MJ in the US, while it is still Federally illegal, they lose their listing status. They can however purchase/own/operate US based hemp companies.
