What about people with multiple risk factors (like moi) but don't have high LDL-C and therefore don't need to be on a statin? I know there are plenty of people here with no LDL problems that are taking V for cardioprotection, probably millions of people like that, perhaps especially diabetics. Kind of a moot point as far as AMRN is concerned, they have no need to run a V only trial, there's enough resistance against V as it is, don't need to add to it by trying to prove it can work w/o statins too, medical establishment would run them out of town. What would be interesting is if say the AZ trial showed decreased CVD, or if some university obtained an NIH grant to run a V only smaller CVOT - heck, RWE data might eventually provide the answer, and universities can access those databases, will just take time for enough people to be on V w/o a statin to show trends.
