Thanks for posting what concerned citizens are saying about the TOXIC PEBBLE DISASTER. I would not have known about them without the heads up. I think they call that, "shooting yourself in the foot". However, thanks again, please keep us updated, and keep those negative responses to the PEBBLE CATASTROPHE coming!

Recreation/Tourism, No Action Alternative:
You know in your hearts this Pebble Project is a bad idea. Your own peer review study in 2014 found that Pebble has a high risk of "irreversible" damage to the watershed" along with "complete loss of fish habitat due to elimination, dewatering, and fragmentation of streams, wetlands, and other aquatic resources." The only thing that has changed since this time is the person in the White House. If this really is a democracy, I urge you to listen to the many voices of people that have spoken out and continue to speak...commercial and private fisherman, tribes, and ordinary citizens like me. We are in a unique time in history that can either work towards the improvement of our natural resources, upon which we all depend, or kill them off for the sake of short term monetary gain.

Please let history look favorably on your decision.

I can not believe the EPA and the CORP's Engineers really believe this is a viable project in light of the negative environmental impact. Regardless of what safety protocols Pebble proposes, an open pit mine will negatively impact fish, wildlife, and the environment downstream. I grew up on the East Coast and there are a plethora of examples; open pit mines equal environmental devastation. And they propose giant holding lakes for hazardous tailings??? This proposal, in one of the worlds most active tectonic areas right along with extensive volcanic activity??? Their environmental protections WILL fail eventually. It just doesn't make sense. The profit of foreign shareholders, with some Alaskan jobs for one generation is NOT worth destroying the last, greatest run of wild salmon in the world. The salmon of the region support subsistence, commercial, and recreation opportunities. As we have managed them, the runs will continue for hundreds of years. I have been a resident in Alaska since 1983, and Alaska deserves better.

Other, No Action Alternative:
While safety appears to be discussed, what exactly are the financial plans for Pebble Limited Partnership to address the failures associated with tailing ponds, and other mine disasters. Throughout the plan there have been accommodations made to mention limiting exposure to nature, people and the existing eco-structure. We know that a disaster of large scale can easily be met with a bankruptcy which shields the partnership, and does nothing to fix the problems.

We will be less as a people if we ever let the last salmon runs on earth be destroyed. The Pebble Mine must be stopped.

Commercial Fisheries, No Action Alternative:
I’m writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed Pebble Mine in the headwaters of Bristol Bay, Alaska. I have run a boat in Bristol Bay since 1987 and Direct Market my catch. My son has run a boat in Bristol Bay since 2015. His brother crews in Bristol Bay and hopes to some day have his own operation there. My husband is a commercial fisherman in SE, Ak. We are a Commercial fishing family. We passionately care about and want to protect this precious resource. Under the Obama Administration, Bristol Bay was finally protected. After years of worry and concern, briefly, we could rest at ease. One election and at the blink of an eye, the Pebble Mine is not only back on the table but also recklessly fast tracked for development. Unbelievable. It is a seriously flawed planned.

Wetlands, Alternative 3:
I must relate the ARMY CORPS of Engineers was a fantastic organization during WW11 in both the European and Pacific theaters with their building ability. But why should they join forces with a Canadian Mining Company in order to build their name back into the news. The Canadians have declared WAR on all West Coast Salmon including their own salmon. Look at a map where they have MINES at the head waters of ALL rivers shared with the USA. Maybe with one exception that was fought and won by the USA.

The Canadian Pebble Mine EIS talk is about a mere twenty years of the TAILING holding Dam. The TAILING dams throughout the world have a disasterous record of failing and totally destroying every living thing in those failed tailing holding dams. Is this Bristol Bay holding DAM in the middle of an major earthquake zone going to be any different. The Dam will be destroyed either by earthquake or age. When that happens the toxic waste will flow into the red Salmon rivers and wash around the shore of the western flow of watr into the Fish and Crab and other fisheries of Bristol Bay. Destroying Bristol Bay itself. then FLOW threw the Chain Islands and coating them with toxic materials that will not disapate, then flow into the Pacific Ocean and into the Japanese Current. Kodiak, Cook Inlet, Southeast will be affected along with the entire State of Alaska fisheries. When that happens the price of fish will drop as it did during the Oil Spill disaster when the tanker hit the reef and spilled 11 Million gallons into Cook Inlet. WE have not recovered from that one yet. Prior to the spill the State of Alaska Fishermen were finally getting a fair price for their fish which even today the price for fisheries has not reached. The fish was tainted with an oil brush according to the world market, can you imagine what a toxic brush tainting our fish will bring..... ZERO!! Not only that with the dam burst within five years all fisheries will be non-existent for our fish are that fragile. North Slope, I would hope you will withdraw your support of the Canadian Pebble Mine in favor of our State of Alaska. Money is not the issue here SURVIVAL is the main issue.
