An interesting mover during Thursday’s session stemmed from the entry of a pharmaceutical company that makes dietary and vitamin supplements into the alternative energy market.
Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals Inc. (APPI) announced signing a Memorandum of Understanding to acquire the Biodiesel company, World Health Energy, Inc., an emerging energy company focusing on biofuels and renewable energy production and distribution.
The company was noted as having been in operation for 2 years and owning proprietary technology in extracting the most efficient amount of energy from feedstock.
The company was also noted as using an interesting feedstock in their production of biodiesel. Jatropha is a tree widely used for the getting Biodiesel in India. The plant has been selected by the Indian Government as one of the plants to provide alternative fuel for the coming years. The government has identified 98 million acres of land where jatropha can be grown, hoping it will replace 20% of diesel consumption by 2011.
The company believes their proprietary technology along with the facts that the plant can be harvested more than once a year, will produce large amounts of oil with little water and upkeep, and has a useful lifespan of several decades.
