The Cardiologists are seeing patients more in need than those seeing a PC doc and IMO insurance is far less likely to push back against a Cardiologist although some do.

The NNT of 21 may be causing meetings already where they may want to get those patients in particular on Vascepa.

It's all about $$$$.

The problem here is that insurance companies are going to do everything they can to deny Vascepa prescriptions, regardless of the spectacular NNT.

The issue is that the events prevented by Vascepa are years or decades downstream for most patients. These patients are most likely going to be another insurance company's problem at that point, or they are going to be Medicare's problem. So there's no immediate cost savings for the insurance company, just costs.
