zeus...why would "no taxes be withheld" if we had to file a W9 at release?

As much as I would love to just get a check in full, ain't gonna happen dude. The IRS will see to it that 28% is withheld UP FRONT. If I am wrong on this I will be shocked. The IRS does not trust anyone getting a windfall to pay them off. People would just leave the country with their money!

I have discussed this escrow payout with my CPA who I trust immensely, and he says it will be LTCG. Then when we file we get back 8-13%.

I encourage all to hire a tax guy. Never take advice like this on a MB. Do the right thing and follow the law. There will be plenty left.
