Anthony Morali, R.A. A.I.A.
Anthony Morali is the founder of Morali Architects and Renewable Energy Development (R.E.D.). Originally from the Bronx, New York, he graduated from Pratt Institute in 1981. Prior to beginning his own firm he apprenticed with Persich and Giacopelli, and contributed to First Design Award for Holy Trinity Church in Whitestone. Subsequently, he managed the Board of Standards and Appeals city planning and zoning projects with Salvati Architects in Brooklyn. In 1985, he was co-founder of MG Architects, where he stayed until 2004, at which time he founded Morali Architects and R.E.D.

Anthony’s notable contributions include adaptive reuse of some of the city’s iconic landmark buildings, such as the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center, Cipriani’s at 55 Wall Street, Cipriani’s at Grand Central Terminal, the conversion of the Bowery Bank into the renowned Capitale event space, among other historic locations throughout Midtown, SoHo and Tribeca.

During the past decade, he began integrating solar and alternative energy systems into his projects for more sustainable designs. He founded and developed SolarRail, a building integrated photovoltaic application that incorporates the benefits of thin-film photovoltaics with structural glazing to create balcony railings, terrace walls, or guardrails that generate electricity.

Anthony has been a member of and volunteered with the Mayor’s advisory zoning council for Community Board 5 in Queens, from 1991-1993. He has been a part of the Society of American Registered Architects from 1995 to today. In addition, he is a part of the New York Society of Architects, and has been a Director within the organization since 2007. He has also been a Director of the United Nations International Renewable Energy Sector from 2007 to today. Anthony has received two awards for successful zoning and landmark development, and a Distinguished Service award for his commitment to Green Building.

Yulia Shao
Yulia Shao is a Project Architect at Morali Architects. Yulia is originally from China, and says Architecture is in her DNA--her father was an Architect as well. Yulia received her M.Arch from the Samara Acamademy of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Russia. For the past 10 years, Yulia has been living and working in New York, finding inspiration in the city's different cultures, art and music. At Morali Architects, Yulia works on design concepts, zoning studies and construction documentation. Her favorite projects are 80 South Street, 415 Main Street (Port Washington), 100 Varick Street, and the Classic in Kew Gardens. When not at the office, Yulia is probably out traveling, shopping, or painting.

Giancarlo Tramontozzi
Giancarlo Tramontozzi is a Project Architect at Morali Architects. Originally from Brooklyn, he graduated with his M.Arch from Pratt in 2008. Giancarlo also studied Architecture in Rome, which gave him a new appreciation for sculpting urban space through the built environment. He gets much of his design inspiration from the context of the project site, as he believes the physical space where a project grows has everything to do with its final form, making the soul of each project unique. Giancarlo joined Morali Architects in 2011, as Project Architect on Hotel Italia (currently underway in Little Italy), and has been heavily involved in all of our projects since then. Giancarlo's favorite project was 93 Bowery (The Wyndham Garden Chinatown). At Morali Architects, Giancarlo handles a wide range of responsibilities, from contract and proposal writing, drafting, interior design, construction details, product research, design development and construction administration. When he's not busy at Morali, Giancarlo can be found watching soccer (forza Roma!), cooking, or in this documentary about his graduation class at Pratt.

Chi Tam
Chi is a Junior Architect and Energy Consultant at Morali Architects. Born and raised in New York, he graduated from Pratt in 2008, having studied construction management and architecture. Chi is responsible for design concepts, zoning studies, construction documentation, and alternative energy systems. He became acquainted with Morali Architects after meeting Tony and having a lively discussion about their mutual passion for sustainability in architecture and design. Chi's main interests are design and construction, especially in sustainability, organic architecture and the latest innovations in energy generating systems. Chi's favorite projects include working with Sungevity on numerous solar projects around the city, working on the Forest Hill tower, and any green project that comes his way. Chi is inspired by art, music, nature and philosophy. When Chi isn't working on our latest solar project, he can be found playing guitar, doing DIY work, and studying electrical engineering.

April Merlin
April Merlin acts as Assistant to the Principal, she helps keep our office running smoothly, and knows the ins and outs of all our projects. April is in charge of all office administration, bookkeeping, scheduling, and managing all of our paperwork. She was born in Michigan, but has lived all over the East and West Coast. She went to college in New York, graduating in 1994 from City College. While working at Morali, April has enjoyed working with our reneweable energy projects, and learning about innovations in sustainability from Tony. April loves old buildings, and is interested in historical preservation, restoration, and learning about traditional building techniques. When April gets a break from handling the office logistics, you can find her spending time with her husband and children, exploring the city, parks, playing soccer, or working hard on renovating her historic tenement apartment.

Ameera Elrasheedy
Ameera Elrasheedy is an Architectural Historian/Social Media Manager at Morali Architects. She received her M.A. in Art History and M.S. in Architectural Preservation from the University of Minnesota. Ameera has lived in New York for 3 years, and loves living in a city where she is surrounded by art, architecture and fashion that inspires people around the world. At Morali Architects, Ameera is responsible for researching and documenting historic sites, as well as managing all of the firm's social media content. Ameera's favorite project has been the Paulaner Brauhaus & Restaurant, because of its surprisingly rich and complex ties to the history of the Bowery neighborhood. That, and she loves a good German beer. When she's not researching a site or tweeting our latest renderings, Ameera can be found giving tours at the Brooklyn Museum, going to shows, or exploring the city.
