Fake walls are when you look at the L2 and on the ask side you see one MM with a huge amount of shares on the ask. Like the ask with SHMP you'll see :
.33 @ 2500
.34 @ 2500
.35 @ 250,000
.36 @ 3000
.37 @ 2500

That 250,000 is a fake wall, the MM do it to scare people who see that, into thinking at .35 someones dumping and the stocks gonna have a hard time getting past .35 causing the stock to hit resistance at that price... So then people say fuck it why buy if it's going to have a hard time getting past .35
The MM's kept doing that and when there was a lot of buying and the stock was moving they dropped the wall right before people started chewing at it. Happens all the time! All done to keep the price down.
