Looks like Fuhrman is recommending high veggie/fruit intake — can’t disagree with that.

If possible, it’s best to buy organic when eating those fruits and vegetables with the highest pesticide residue. Here are the dirty dozen:

Fuhrman recommends eating mushrooms daily. Good idea, though not sure the button, crimini, portobello mushroom is the way to go. See Paul Stamets reference later.

In Japan, an extract of the common Turkey Tail mushroom is approved for combination with chemo and radiation therapy. It’s main impact is on immune function. Unfortunately it is unknown here — cheap, no significant side effects (actually reduces side effects of toxic therapy), and shows signs of increasing efficacy of standard treatments.

I’m sure Pubmed searches will keep one entertained for a while. Let’s do a quick search (haven’t looked in 15 years). Here’s one example:

What, they’re finally getting around to studying it in the US! A phase 1 trial in BC patients:

Wonders never cease. Really, not kidding, first I heard of it. Though I bet my only child it will never be used by mainstream onc’s here.

The phase 1 trial used Paul Stamets’ product. He is the mushroom expert in the US. Worth getting to know his work. YouTube/Joe Rogan interview with him is a little mind blowing. He has a really cryptic comment about button mushrooms that’s worth the price of admission. Who knew mushrooms were so amazing?

Anyway, I digress. Diet is just one component of cancer prevention. It’s a very expansive topic that goes to many aspects of how one lives.
