Here are some examples of INACCURATE perceptions:

WINSTON CHURCHILL: his parents ignore him, he did poorly in school, he stuttered and spoke with a lisp. They call him a disappointment and a boy of “low intelligence”.

MERYLE STREEP: after failing to land a role, she nearly gave up on acting when a director called her “too ugly”.

STEVEN SPIELBERG: he was rejected from USA film school 3 times.

ELVIS PRESLEY: after his first performance he was told, “you ain’t going no where, son. You ought to go back to driving a truck.”

Dr. SEUSS: he was turned down by 27 publishers.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: his fiancé died, he failed in business, he suffered a number of nervous breakdowns and was defeated in 8 different elections.

STEVE JOB: at age 30, he was left depressed and devastated after being fired from the company he found.

OPRAH WINFREY: she was demoted from her job as news anchor because she “wasn’t fit for television”.

WALT DISNEY: he was fired from a newspaper agency because he “lacked imagination” and had “no original ideas”.

THOMAS EDISON: his teacher told him, he was “too stupid to learn anything”.

MICHAEL JORDAN: after being cut from his high school basketball team, he went home, locked himself in his room and cried.

BEATLES: rejected by a recording studio, that said: “we don’t like their sound. They have no future in show business.”

ALBERT EINSTEIN: he wasn’t able to speak until he was 4 and he couldn’t read until he was 7. Parents and Teachers worried he might be mentally handicapped and said, “he would never amount to much”.

Let’s NOT prejudge ourselves, as well as someone else.
