Agreed— confirmation bias is a bitch. It’s good to remember we’re all subject to it.

Obviously I include myself in “all.” I’ve thought for decades that I was an open-mined sort of guy. It’s only in the last few years that I’ve come to understand that pretty much everything needs to be questioned, especially “authoritative” sources. Evidence, not authority. Then question the evidence. Then question yourself if the belief you hold is really important.

This seems like too much work!

Experts, leaders, the highly credentialed — they may be acting in good faith but be ignorant of the fact that they are complicit in pulling the wool over your eyes.
