Some thoughts ............

If you are planning on staying there I'd do what is best for you in utilizing space.

If you are remodeling to sell then you might have a concern.

That being said if I'm buying a home would I want that extra space no matter how it looks?

Personally I would so it's a go no matter what.

In our neck of the woods those are called bonus rooms.

The way my Wife & I live is quite frankly we don't give a rip what others think this is for us not to fit into what society, real estate agents advice, etc think is acceptable.

What we do to our home is to fit the needs we have at the time.
