Doesn't matter. He panicked.

As a coach it is your leadership to your team to remain cool, calm, not running pass after pass when you have over 4 minutes left and think nothing bad is going to happen the defense just teeing off not worrying about a run so QB panics as well with terrible throw.

They didn't get to the playoffs playing like that.
You don't switch what was working for you.
