The CEO’s responsibility is twofold. His first responsibility is towards his company, which he is in charge of to make grow; and his second responsibility is toward his shareholders, who provide the financial backing to aid him in his growth.
I am VERY glad the company is growing, but I have the RIGHT to know the details of the growth. I EXPECT the CEO to be trustworthy, and he damages his own credibility when he makes promises he can’t keep.
This was incredibly stupid from his part, because this was entirely of his own doing. He didn’t have to include this promise in that PR, but he did, and since he did, I expect him to fulfill it.
I understand things change. If things changed in such a way as to change the update he can provide, I expect him to tell us WHY he can not give us the update he promised.
