All that is due to a salacious "tell-all" book which has been debunked. It also claimed that Errol was a secret agent for the Axis as a Nazi sympathizer.

Just like so many claims about penny stocks here in I-Hub, those claims have no basis of fact or any factual corroboration. They were invented out of whole cloth by the author to sell books and make some money.

But Errol wasn't entirely squeaky clean, of course. He cheated regularly on his many wives, was quite the voyeur and peeping tom, and also seems to have had a liking for underaged girls. That creepiness certainly makes him an easy target for the invented claims of being gay in old Hollywood.
