Cannabinoid Investor Note for Jan 15

Cannabists, it looks like CWEB may have decided to add a marketing department to its organization finally. After months and months of pretty much radio silence these guys have actually been able to put out two great press releases in the past 7 days. The last release was about the Coca-Cola exec being hired and the desire to find a new President with deep consumer packaged goods experience to take this company to the next level. The press release announced today speaks to CWEB’s market leadership position, its industry leading production capabilities and the quality of its finished products. My favourite line of the release is, “The 2018 record harvest for the Company provided raw material beyond its highest demand expectations for 2019 and builds inventory for 2020, ensuring product will be available for the growing number of people who use "The World's Most Trusted Hemp Extract™”.

For those of you invested in CWEB or thinking about it here is the full release: https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/charlotte-s-web-hemp-harvest-increases-10x-building-inventory-to-meet-growing-cbd-product-demand-899729830.html

CWEB may be the CBD industry leader, but Canopy Growth and Aurora are desperately trying to catch-up and compete head to head for US market share. Yesterday Canopy secured a New York State hemp license and will establish US based commercial operations. Chuck Shumer went on CNN and declared the following: US Senator Charles Schumer applauded the move, and predicted that the investment will help make the upstate region of New York known as the Southern Tier "the Silicon Valley of industrial hemp production and research.” Here is Canopy’s press release on this: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/canopy-growth-receives-new-york-state-hemp-licence-and-will-establish-us-based-commercial-operations-300777845.html

And then there is that sh*t grinner Cam Battley at Aurora who once again is a few steps behind Bruce Linton at Canopy. In typical Aurora style they have now heard what Canopy has accomplished in hemp and are going to copy it as soon as they can. I think Aurora’s strategy department actually works at Canopy and while Canopy does the strategy Terry Booth at Aurora sits on his bar stool pounding back booze awaiting news of what Canopy is up to so that he can bark out the new direction to his more sober employees. Here is Aurora’s press release on how they too are going to do what Canopy just did: https://www.businessinsider.com/aurora-cannabis-will-unveil-plan-to-produce-cbd-for-us-market-2019-1?utm_source=reddit.com

And then on the US legalization front here is a good article from Rolling Stone on the new 420 bill to regulate cannabis like alcohol. Some pretty good lines in here about how opposing cannabis reform is political suicide at this point regardless of whether you are a Republican money puppet or a Democratic money puppet. All the money puppet strings are being pulled by cannabinoids at this point in human history which should be good for our investment thesis. Here is the article: https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/cannabis-weed-could-be-legal-federally-778793/

Another interesting article today is on how many billions of alcohol and tobacco may be diverted from those industries to the cannabis industry. The number being cited is $55 billion annually. Here is that article: https://mjbizdaily.com/legal-cannabis-skim-55-billion-per-year-alcohol-tobacco/
