With the amazon thing, the requestors quite literally get results for free.
As a worker you get one penny to spend 15 minutes clicking photos or something. It's all in the volume of 'jobs' one takes. Some requests pay more than others. It's kind of based on taking survey thing but more interactive.
But these corps or anyone who wants to be a requestor for a chore aren't employing their own employees at all. It's all a farm out. And you get millions to do what you need right away. It's interesting actually.
