So, when we had football camp in August, one of our rewards after dinner on a two-a-day was to have an open pool for those who still had muscles that weren't stiff as hell or were tired as sht after dinner. Once or twice per camp, for reasons that are unknown to me and perhaps nobody really knows, we were told at dinner "the Dook flag is up for the pool tonight" - which meant swim trunks were optional (in fact due to peer pressure, they were essentially verboten).

Looking at this grin, I never realized that the Bloo Devil might be gay, not that there’s anything wrong with that!

BUT, one of my strangest memories of my Dad were of his tales of his high school which was actually called Baltimore City College, the 3rd oldest hs in the USA, founded 1839.

It was an all boys school 70 years ago when he attended and physed/swimming sessions were mandatory nude. (don’t tell your BFF Kevin S.)

And swimming remained mandatory nude til least the 70s.

I wondered if it was a City or Balto thing but google reports that, at least at many, many YMCAs and schools during those years, nude swimming was mandatory for the following bizzaro explanation: swim trunks were cotton and created lint which clogged the swimming pool filters...

My Dad’s memories were somewhat fond; then, again, his parents were Russian, so perhaps there were ethnic traditions, like saunas and staining skin and hair orange...
