Hampel: "Stay tuned for breakthrough advances in 2019."

I'll speculate this is referencing Anavex. Hampel presented for Anavex in October at Alz conference, and has come out in support of Anavex's approach. Top line results expected in 2019 so that's your breakthrough. Anavex has probably been enrolling and dosing, and monitoring progress; perhaps Hampel is giving us a heads up.

Bill Gates: "I saw two positive trends in Alzheimer’s research in 2018.
One is that researchers focused on a new set of ideas about how to stop Alzheimer’s.
In the past year, researchers have doubled down on a second generation of hypotheses. One theory is that a patient’s brain cells break down because their energy producers (called mitochondria) wear out. Another is that brain cells break down because part of the immune system gets overactivated and attacks them.
The other trend this year is that the Alzheimer’s community focused on getting more and better access to data. We’re working with researchers to make it easier for them to share information from their studies broadly so that we can better understand questions like how the disease progresses."

Anavex represents new ideas, and is focused on data not only in diagnostic but in dosing. I keep thinking about the share price and how somebody (someone) has beaten the stock to a pulp. Reminds me of OCATA before they were bought out a few years ago. The stock kept dropping and dropping, until one Sunday night news came of a Japanese company buying OCATA for $8.40. Shareholders were angry because the share price dropped all the way down to the $3's. If somebody wanted to take out AVXL I would suspect the same market forces at work.

Everything Bill Gates mentions in his write up oozes Anavex.
