The Dow Jones Industrial Average is soaring today -- and there's a good chance it holds on to those gains.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average has climbed 400.81 points, or 1.6% to 24,771.05, while the S&P 500 has gained 1.6% to 2678.63, and the Nasdaq Composite has jumped 2.1% to 7179.57.
There's good reason for the optimism today. According to The Wall Street Journal , China is considering replacing its "Made in China 2025" plan with one that is allows for more open markets. That would be a big deal, if it turns out to be true.
But that is not why we're optimistic. The reason is that the Dow is still trading near its highs at around 12:30, something it hasn't been able to do after opening higher recently. On Tuesday, the Dow opened up nearly 300 points but finished off 53 points. On Dec. 7 , the Dow traded up almost 150 points early in the day before selling off -- hard. And the slides all both started before midday.
There's still time, but this gain looks like it might hold.
