That is totally bass-ackwards. Seismic imaging tells you where to drill the hole. Drilling the hole does not tell you where to conduct seismic imaging.

Zion could have conducted seismic imaging first so they wouldn't have had to waste their shareholder's money drilling MJ#1. But seismic imaging might (probably would) have precluded drilling in the Meggido Valley in the first place. And that's where Zion really, really wanted their well to be.

Zion management remains customarily vague with their shareholders about about the what, why and wherefore. But logic says this seismic imaging isn't being done in spite of the Israeli authorities reluctance, but it's rather more likely at the Israeli authorities insistence that ZN provide a compelling reason to continue drilling through the fresh water aquifer and into salt water reservoirs.
