RE: “Seems you could have waited…”
Free - Well, one can always wait to get back in, but that can come with its own pain too. I made the BUY-call Monday after the Friday 23 November close and went back in on 27 November. The S&P 500 went up over 100 pts after I got in and I was feeling pretty smart. If I had waited, I might have gotten back in at the top of the rally we recently completed and then ridden it back down. Then I would have felt worse.

For the most part, I try not to be too concerned about catching a falling knife since my bottom calls are rigorously analyzed. So far, I’m not wrong, but my confidence level is obviously lower. Another reason for not waiting is that by making the move in November, I still have 2 moves I could make in December if needed (as far as the TSP is concerned) - I could get out and still get back in December.

The S&P 500 retested the low again Friday. That was day-54 of this correction. My records show that the average correction over the last 10-years has lasted 53-days (excluding major crashes). At this point…we’ll see. Let’s hope the storm is over.
