Today was supposed to be a great day after wonderful gains in NGL throughout this week. Retiring for the night was preceded by a fine dinner with our favorite wine plus dreams of sugar plum fairies dancing about in joyous celebration of a job well done. Translation: A massive turn-around for certain!

My cost basis after backing out distributions is $9.84. The cost basis reflected now is a whopping $12.64.

However, as of this morning at about 6:00am I found the $12,400 gain had been replaced by a loss shown in the amount of $135,660!!!!!

Similarly, my other eleven positions are also inaccurately represented.

Calling Ameritrade, I spoke with a classic dumbo the likes of which ought to be shot and buried like so much toxic waste. I threatened to jump to Schwab unless connected with a manager.

The manager was great, no doubt about it. Turns out that Ameritrade has switched over to a different format---albeit without warning clients in advance. As of today, cost basis will not be managed by the client. Thus, I can no longer back out distributions as I've done in the past.

Also, whereas I'd had a number of "accounts-positions" views, those have now disappeared as well. My views are no longer viewable!

I was told this is a change clients wanted. The problem I identified has to do with optionality in that I can no longer set up my view of portfolios with the freedom to bring up actual results. Portfolio management, for me, at least, is a challenge I can meet head-on only by the means to gauge via efficacy. I can no longer do this through Ameritrade.

My work-around is simple enough---I maintain an up-to-date portfolio representation at Yahoo! where I get to call the shots by inserting information I deem critically important for my purposes.

Still, I don't like depending upon that outside source as it seems to me I ought to have what I want through my brokerage of choice.

However, I've been wrong on such matters in the past and it may prove to be the case this time around as well. I'll have to live with it for now. I did want to alert others here to this major change.

My suggestions for fellow Ameritrade users would be to go to Yahoo! and set up things as you want them. If you find it difficult to navigate at first, let me know so we can see if
I can be of help.
