I like Barge, get frustrated at times because one simple fact does not seem to have sunk in, in the Wavoid community. It is the fact that, as regards content monetization, the TPM CHANGES EVERYTHING! And the TPM is HERE! The real impact of Wave will not be expressed by the metric of how many FDE drives this or that manufacturer ships in 'x' time period, but rather by how many teeny-boppers will congregate in their dorm rooms downloading legal full-length movies secured by the TPM in that Dell or Gateway laptop that Mommy bought them for college. Premium content will find a way to be sold, now that the security of the TPM is available. As for the need for content providers to have to conduct 'internal pilots', as postulated by Weby, befor premium content can be liberated, well my counter to that is that the only 'pilot' that is needed to get the premium content avalanche started is for a few geeks to start with an itanium server in their basement or garage, and hiring a few geek friends with basic on-line marketing experience, and access to software such as Longhorn server, and Wave's SDK. It's not rocket science, and it won't require a lumbering corporate behemoth to pull it off.
