I am going out on my usual precarious limb to state that it is my view that Barrick negotiated an exit arrangement with Chile. There was just too many negative issues to deal with including all their press releases on the Pascua Lama project openings multiple times with never any reality occurring re opening the production of Pascua Lama.

Munk forced Aaron Regent and others to make those claims and then threw them out when the questions became too difficult.
The markets actually believed these people acted as Barrick authorities to have made the claims they did.

Can anyone say money laundering.

What immense debt are you talking about, the world banks were all in on it.

Much of the funds raised with the promise of Pascua Lama were diverted to the acquisitions Barrick was making in their Growth Strategy to increase the share values of the company.

How many times could you declare an opening at Pascua Lama and get away with it.

Enter a planned exit strategy with the Legal and Mining Llama Farmer authorities of Chile with a little bribe money thrown in on the side of course.
Who knows how to drive a cat dozer, anyone anyone?

Barrick had to buy some time to hire the clean up crew to manage the messy dead bodies all over the place.

I was watching the funeral services for George H W Bush today as well as Brian Mulroney's eulogy.I found it difficult to hold my breakfast down.
Dimly,I could almost distinguish the image of Munk and Bush chuckling over the ceremony goings on.

You figure it out.
