Actually the question that keeps getting posted about why they have never sold any of the pilot run product is pretty easy. They most likely used the product as fertilizer. Would have been hard to sell. First - variation as they adjust process, the product would have variation in quality. Second - you would not want to risk the reputation of the process on a bad experience for the public or customer -

Now that they have a defined process the variation in product will be much less. As a result the can have the product tested for defined quality attributes and start distribution if that is the goal of the business plan.

I see no negative in not having sold “research” production for human consumption. My experience in production would agree with the path they seem to have taken. Just my opinion
