I conversed with Dr. Koneru a couple years back regarding penetration depths. He said that ActiPatch has a biological effect up to 5-6 centimeters deep, equal to about 2". The 27 megahertz signal does lose strength the deeper it goes.
Men are generally larger and have more muscle mass than women. The 27 megahertz signal that ActiPatch pulses into the body could be providing stronger therapy when it reaches the problem area in those with a smaller frame, lower muscle/body mass.
I can also verify that ActiPatch works on male back pain, been using it for 10 years. There are many possible causes for back pain some, no doubt, better suited to ActiPatch therapy than others.
It would be interesting to know if BIEL has any data on efficacy vs size of the patient. Rather than sex being the issue the current 73 microwatt ActiPatch could be fine for anyone up to say 5'10"/160 lbs. The Extra Strength ActiPatch would be recommended for customers above that height/weight.
There have been a few teases from BIEL on an Extra Strength ActiPatch being developed over the last few years.
