Wow! Help Wanted: Federal Cannabis Cultivators

We are in the right place, at the right time. =D

Help Wanted: Federal Cannabis Cultivators

The federal government is in search of experienced pot growers for a lucrative business opportunity.

Applicants must be expert marijuana entrepreneurs. Uncle Sam is looking for companies capable of producing up to 2,000 kilograms of marijuana — and keeping as much as 5,000 kilograms of “marijuana stock” on site.

That’s not all.

Folks applying to the fed’s program also need to collect payments from Uncle Sam’s “customers.” Experience rolling marijuana cigarettes is a plus.

Nothing’s too good for the presidential pot.

But prospects had better hurry — the deadline to apply for this cushy “Kush” gig is Dec. 10.

Anyone who applies will need to demonstrate extensive experience in all of these areas for the authorities.

This is no joke.

It’s not some elaborate entrapment plan cooked up by the suits in Washington, D.C.

Instead, it really is a “sources sought” notice posted on the federal government’s official business opportunities website. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is the federal agency in charge of growing and distributing cannabis used for research.

Since 1968, a single farm at the University of Mississippi has been the federally authorized source of marijuana for scientific research.

As we discussed in last week’s update, Uncle Sam has been notoriously uncooperative when it comes to providing cannabis for medical research. Under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the DOJ dragged its feet in its role getting legally vetted weed to researchers in a timely fashion.

Now with Sessions out, there’s a lot of hope that the federal tune could finally change and open the doors to researchers.

The posting from NIDA is getting plenty of marijuana market watchers excited about the prospects of a lucrative revenue source for existing publicly traded pot companies in growing weed for the feds.

But if you ask me, that’s small potatoes.

The real opportunity comes from the research breakthroughs that will come from making cannabis more readily accessible to scientists working on the next generation of cannabis-based pharmaceuticals. We’re talking potential blockbuster drug revenues. So it’s reassuring to see the feds moving in the right direction when it comes to pot policy.

We’re still not there yet — not by a long shot. But we’re definitely moving in the right direction. Without a doubt, we’re still in the very early innings of the global pot opportunity.

Long term, the tides are shifting. And more near term, we’re taking advantage of trading opportunities around this incredibly exciting space as they come.
