Protease inhibitors were discovered in 1991 and found to be 10,000 times more toxic to the HIV virus then to cultured human cells. It took five long years and people chanting them selves to the gates of the FTA to finally get approval. Even worse The approval was made with out a warning that it must be taken with another drug that has never been used by the patient before so that the virus does not develop resistance. Tens of thousands of people did not get the word and died soon after had they been worn and as I was they would’ve held on until they could take at least two drugs that wants to read deuce the odds of the virus mutating into a resistant virus to very very small parts. The FTA should be cut loose from the federal government and the run as a private laboratory in the model of underwriters laboratory or the NSF.
