I think that might have been happening if one did not close all the holes one could find. I have checked my settings repeatedly after major Win10 updates (didn't worry about the minor ones) and have never found anything changed.

I wasn't happy about having to go to Win10 in the beginning, so I bought a very VERY cheap laptop to try it out and was actually very surprised to find that this little laptop does everything I need every bit as well as My $1000+ custom-built (by me) WinXP desktop. I've actually grown to like Win10 though I still have difficulty finding some of the more esoteric functions that are so intuitively accessible on WinXP. . .

BTW, if PMS Witch or anyone else has a recommendation for a small, cheap laptop with a CPU robust enough to run a Hauppauge DualHD USB TV Tuner without hiccupping or stalling when recording 2 channels simultaneously, I'd be pleased to know about it.

I've had a Hauppauge 950Q model for 10 years, bought it for my cross-country camping trip in '08 but rarely had time to use it. When my VCR finally died, I pulled it out and connected it to my old WinXP laptop and voila! I can watch TV or record a show to the harddrive. Worked great so decided rather than buy a new DVR for hundreds of dollars, I'd just buy the Dual Hauppauge for $65. Hoping it will work as well as the 950Q has all these years, but the old XP laptop I doubt has the computing power to record 2 shows at once without imploding, nor does my new Win10 laptop. May have to bring the desktop XP I built years ago out of retirement since it has a much better CPU and would probably work just fine, saving me the trouble of buying a new laptop just for recording purposes.
