I expect that Herper and Feuerstein gave snippets verbally for Nissen and others quoted to give feedback on.

The thing that is troublesome about giving the interviewees verbal snippets is you can get any answer you're looking for by providing the "right" information.

Herper and Fuerstein rushed their articles to publication without digging deeply into the data or really even bothering to present opposing views or highlighting what was done in the study to address the very issues that they complained about.

Herper's article in particular was borderline journalistic malpractice--just embarrassing.
