Following that logic, the most cost beneficial thing society can do is to take everyone who turns 65 out and shoot them. Then turn them into soylent green.



Yeah sadly it would be cheaper to soylent green folks when they start costing the healthcare system money. The insurance companies would LOVE that.

Here's a sad fact: Insurance companies do everything they can to avoid paying for interventions that will prevent disease many years down the road. The simple reason for that is that while the insurance company has to pay for the intervention NOW, they won't get the benefit of cost savings, but that customer will likely be with a different insurance company or on Medicare in 20 years. That's why they don't want to pay for preventative care.

It's messed up.
