The problem as I understand it is that in order to get to purified EPA you have to go through Amarin’s patented process and then re-esterify. What I remember reading is that fish oil is not easily separated into its components without a chemical process that Amarin owns. And then once you start using a chemically-derived product, this is not a natural product and should not be marketed as a DS.
