If there was a way to insist upon a hard day's work in exchange for government assistance it would play out better.

md, I think we should have more of this, too. Apprenticeships, beautification, mix of education and work, so that people can bootstrap themselves. But with kids, and with their caregivers--generally, but not always their mothers, it gets more complicated. But yeah, I think everyone, including the recipients, would generally prefer there is work to go with the assistance when that is feasible.

I'm way too familiar with the ST levy, and the problem with the bill was created by the legislature. Then, when stuff hit the fan, they were happy to point the finger at ST. It's imperfect, but I voted for it because we need something or if 20 years the economy here will go to hell due to constant gridlock. But I feel your pain; just paid my tabs last week.
