It seems like LQMT has moved out of LM105 and moved into DC106s (exclusively). See latest Bromage BLOG.

DC 106c (Niobium based) has substantial wider delta temp (liquid temp - glass forming temp) which allow glass forming under less rapid cooling. This is crucial when one try to make bigger part (need more time).

Liquidmorphium (Silver based) has similar wider delta temp but Silver itself is a highly electrical conductive material. It impacts overall RF transparency (which is an absolute requirement in 5G era, MRI guided robot, medical implant).

Rapid Cooling under vacuum condition is a very touchy science. Less than perfect control will impact "net shaping" yield. Yield lost translate into cost increase.

With that being said, Vit106 is not proprietary. Materion does have Vit106a. Problem now sits with Engel since the machine itself is tailored for LM/Vit105.

Biocompatibility is another subject for medical world. I assume LQMT is (should be) doing serious Biocompatibility Test now with DC106c.

It is a wonderful thing when competition is formed (because there is a market). Hard part is how to keep them one step behind.
