Good morning rimshot

Infrastructure is an investment that requires more investment. The Bay Area's main water system is the Hetch Hetchy one and starting about 5 years ago they started the long process of replacing much of it, which dates to the 30's or earlier.

Melons? That is the first time I've heard of that as a refueling mechanism, I do use Hammer products, the Endurolytes product. Only on the longer endurance rides though. I used to use their Heed dry powder mixed in water but I haven't done that for a couple years.
I spent much of this year riding 20 to 30 mile rides but this month I've extended out to 65 miles.
One of my oddities is I prefer to do activities on an empty stomach but the longer rides require some intake and I vary how I do that. I am riding where I can finding things to eat or drink because I'm in an urban setting or can alter my course to go find food stuff. I used to do sports drinks way back but now I just take water with me.

The Hammer folks are up in Whitefish, in your neighborhood. The Adventure Cycling folks are also near you in Montana.
