Apart from some supposed claims to the contrary about the name, I believe DCVax-Lung refers to an improved version of L. The NIH patent is a clue that a "process patent" might be related to a safety improvement in the development of a commercialized product. This "art" development improvement may have allowed for an improved product. This is potentially due to a more enclosed higher purity system along with perhaps a balancing of a heterogenous population of dendritic cell properties created by natural randomness of DC activation ie bumped on the left vs bumped on the right (illustrative example only). Same cells potentially just improved selection and distribution which creates less signalling interference and more consistent results. Best wishes.
