Two events, two towns win.

MANASQUAN – Manasquan teachers dug in and pulled. Over 1,200 feet away and across the Manasquan Inlet, teachers from Point Pleasant Beach pulled back.

Back and forth they went. The thick, yellow rope both sides clenched in their hands tightened, then bowed, then tightened again above the inlet water.

Sensing their team was losing ground the Manasquan faithful shouted: "Pull, Pull, Pull." But it was not meant to be, their team was pulled across a white line spray painted on the street. See the tug of war in the above video.

A man on a radio signaled to his counterpart across the Manasquan Inlet that it was over and the roped was dropped. A distant roar could be heard on the victorious Point Pleasant Beach side of the inlet.

In the next heat, Manasquan first responders returned the favor by pulling their side to victory.
