The information that Ms Roberts obtained might have been used to hurt NWBO and might have found its way into Mr Woodford's hands and might have made him an "insider" and prevented him from trading.
However, is there any logic in the implied suggestion that he might try to harm NWBO? No. Has there been any evidence to suggest that he has ever tried to take over a company? No. However, like all fund managers when he believes it would be hugely advantageous to a company in which he has invested (and hence to his fund's value), he has tried to increase the value of his holdings even if it meant replacing an inefficient or incompetent Management. (Might NWBO's Management fit this description?)
He was an early investor in NWBO because he, like you, like me and like most of the posters on this board believes in the science. Like you, me and the the rest of the "long" longs, Woodford has stuck with NWBO down to these low SPs probably (in my opinion) not because he is now an insider but because he still believes in the science (especially when there have been tiny credible hints here and there from sources within or close to the trial that the results are very encouraging) and, unlike most fund managers, with his current funds he is prepared to wait for years to see his investments bear fruit (and has told his investors to expect this). So, why would he want to sell and confirm a stonking loss which would cast doubt on his own ability as a fund manager when he is still, like you, like me and like all the other longs, still confident that the trial will succeed (despite all his mistrust in what Management has done and is still doing) and that we will all (touch wood) eventually be rewarded with a reasonable return on our investments. He, like the rest of us, is prepared to stick it out and be proven right in the end.
At the end of it all, if we are all happy with the outcome he might even admit that despite everything Mrs Powers eventually steered the ship to a safe harbour - but at the possible cost of how many lives that might have been saved had the the ship arrived sooner rather than later.
