For the kind of money made by many here, the real answer is to shell out a few bucks and have a sit-down with an accountant/tax-advisor--in particular, the s/t shares/gains. I wouldn't make such important decisions like that based on the advice of folks on a stock MB (regardless of the quality of its posters).
